Here is the story:Daughter's First. First TWO, that is. Was going to fish alone today, but before I turned in last night, I asked my 7 yr old Lauren if she wanted to go trolling for Muskies. She said yes, and got her snowsuit out, and boots, and gloves, and scarf, and.......

Well, we were on the road at 5:00 am with a full thermos of hot chocolate, and fishing by 8:00. It was coooolllllldddddd. I caught a 43 9:00 AM and told her the next one was hers. About 9:20, the clicker went, and the board was under. I gave her the rod, and she kept tension while I cleared the other rods. Then I coached her to just reel it in, to let the rod do it's job. She went to the front center when it was time to take off the board, and reeled down to me. After that it was her vs. fish. She did a great job, and led the fish into the waiting Frabill. After cutting the hooks, I measured her first Muskie at 42 1/2", and set it in her arms. A couple of quick pics of her, and then an easy release. She waved good bye as the fish swam easily away. How cool. But, as it turned out, we were not done.

I caught another, this time a 42, and then the same rod went for her next turn. Again, she did a great job, and after a couple quick pics, we released a fat 37 1/2" to be caught again. I caught another at 39 a short time later. All these fish came in less than 2 hours, and all on the same bait in 2 colors! What an awesome day! Thanks, Lauren, for sharing this day with me.
