We got to the area we wanted to fish after a few "unintentional detours" lol..

I put on a topraider because the conditions were just begging for it.threw out the first cast and after bringing the bait about 10 feet there was a large swirl at the bait.. I kept retrieving while waiting to feel the weight of the fish.but it missed the fish made a quick turn and went after it again all we saw was the big deep side of the fish it was a big one.Speedtroll (my partner) followed up with a couple of casts with his lure but the fish didn’t show himself again so we left the bay to come back later.

We continued to cast the area for a while and after no further action the fog had lifted so we decided it was time to head to deeper weedbeds for some trollin.

We trolled for a while when I got a hit on one of Musky_mans bucktails.I was looking the other way when the fish hit but Speedtroll saw the splash and all I heard was "Oh Yeah". The fight was on..the fish went deep into the weeds and started heading for the boat.

I jumped up on the back of the boat and was thinking of getting on the motor as I put my rod in the water because the fish was heading right under us When it did come out from under the boat it took a few deep runs I could feel my line 'popping' the weeds as it cut through them.

When the fish finally came up at the side of the boat it started to take a run that looked like it was going to jump..I dipped the tip, and kept the fishes head down and towards Speedtroll who was ready with the net. After a few nervous seconds where we were not sure if it would fit his net the fish was in the boat.

We did a quick measure (48") and snapped a few pictures..(thanks Speedtroll) and the fish was back in the water

The fish was caught just as the weather was turning from overcast and rain to a clear sunny afternoon. When the sun came out -the fish turned off.
