I was about to lift my Sledge from the water thinking where to cast next when I saw a green flash and the lure disappeared.

I pulled hard and... my tight drag shot off. The fish went for a long deep run along the boat with me trying hard to slow it down. I succeeded in turning the fish around, thinking I became the P.I.C. (person in charge). The fish was coming back slowly pulling hard with its head-shakes. For a moment I felt the fish was gone when I felt slack but I pulled hard and felt the weight again. The fish was coming back, slowly rising from 20' hole. All of a sudden the fish stopped and... I immediately knew what was going to happen next. The fish took off for the surface. As I saw fish rising fast, my buddy 2Rs watched me picking up slack and then deepening the rod down to the reel. Again, The Striker ruled, the fish could hardly surface out its snout as my mighty Power Pro drove her back in. My heart was really pounding as I was driving her into the net. We took the picture of this 44" beauty and I shook hands with 2Rs after letting the girl go back to her cabbage kingdom.
